Poem: A Day Without Wind

Blue Ridge Parkway.JPG

A Day Without Wind

It is a day without wind,
without storms.
Quiet.
Peaceful.
And you are far up the mountain,
not quite to the summit,
but high enough
to view the switchback paths that brought you here
past washed out streams
and boulders fallen in your way.

You sit and nurse your tired body.
You feel every scar.
A few still bleed. but today
it is a day without wind,
without storms
and you are finally able
to savor the view.
