Poem: Persistence

Bits and pieces,
pressure and glue.
The strength to wrestle
it all in place
and hold it long enough.

that things not made to be
what you wish them to be,
can be created anew.
Less talent
than persistence.

About this poem.

I am in my studio this morning. I’ve just messed up a picture I want to paint for the third time. I am about to begin the fourth. Sooner or later, I’ll get it how I like it.

The picture was taken in a cooper’s workshop in Mystic Seaport, CT.
