Poem: Romance at Christmas

Romance at Christmas

Play me a soft sonata of things lost
and things found. Of soft white skin
and the flicker of candles in the night.
Of laughter lost and laughter found.
Of new love that never grows old.
A song of healing that never ends,
because the pain never ends,
but in the soft sound of music in the night,
it all balances out, and maybe more than balances –
Turns into something new, precious,
with unexpected chords in the old songs,
making certain you pay attention,
romance at Christmas.
