A Spot of Light

It is a trudge up the stairs to the darkness
of a studio, not yet lit,
everything line and shadows
save one small painting capturing the sun,
capturing yesterday’s emotions, yesterday’s exuberance,
a reminder you needed in the midst of today’s rain.
About this poem
At times, we need those reminders of past light to light the moment. A poem written after and inspired by revisiting a photograph of the woman I love.
The picture is of my studio, early one morning.

Isn’t it amazing how a ray of light sometimes catches a particular object or scene.
