Poem: In the Face of Frost

In the Face of Frost

One small bloom. The last flower of the season.
The rest killed off by the almost frosts of October,
but not this one that waves its color like a flag of defiance,
your new favorite,
the one that encapsulates what you are determined to be.
Bright in the face of frost.

About this poem

The picture is the last of the Cosmos in my garden. Taken yesterday. I often learn about myself in nature.
