The Curiosity Case
The beasts are on display.
Roaring grizzlies,
slithering snakes,
a museum for the dead and dying,
tucked away
where no one sees them
except the curious
and brave, the
collectors of the macabre
and broken,
reminders not of things alive,
but of the conquered, a reminder.
that when you go once again
into the jungle, you must
t battle each day, vigilant and alert,
or end up in the rooms
of the living dead.
About this poem
We’ve all seen them, the ones gone too far, succumbed to their past, their sadness, their anger, their flaws and mistakes. Museum pieces of what they once were. Don’t think we can’t end up there too. Fight and fight again. Reach into the world. Love despite the pain. Give back. Savor.
Live.
The picture was taken at the Pember – a wonderful little natural history museum atop the library in Granville, NY.
