Poem: Without Circuses

IMG_2560.JPG

Without Circuses

Light
in dark corners.

Fresh air
in the night.

Prayer in the morning.
Before it starts.

Breathe in.
Breathe out.

Hope in.
Fear and lies out.

The enemy is not the only one
persistent. Insistent.

Your God is stronger,
even in his silence.

Without circuses. Without fire and brimstone,
he lives, there

in the quiet moments
we allow, we claim, we embrace.

About this poem

A thousand small things a day to offset the dark noise of our world.

  1. I love the aura or feeling this poem creates, and I feel the last lines tie it together nicely. I love the idea that we have to “allow,” “claim,” and “embrace” those small, meaningful moments.
