Time Spent Reckoning
Uncoil the ropes.
Loosen the sails.
Watch the clouds. They will tell you
from which direction the wind will come.
Prepare. These doldrums are a passing thing.
Weather is coming,
and whether it be wild or steady,
it will move you,
and your time spent reckoning
in these quiet hours
will determine where you will go,
how far, and how well.
About this poem
I have come to see this time we are in as a time to prepare. Even if I am not sure for what I am preparing, I can dream. I can point my boat and adjust my sails to where I want to go.
The wind will come.
