The Jetty
It is a narrow path, made of stone,
a breakwater between ocean and bay,
designed to slow the storm
just enough.
It is a narrow path
between the mainland and island
where the lighthouse sends out its beacon
in the darkest night.
It is a narrow path,
made of stone, long and straight
a journey not for the faint of heart
for the water is deep with currents on either side.
It takes…. persistence.
And yet, we make the journey,
focused on keeping our own footing
and the safe shores ahead,
That is enough.
About this poem
A poem more about faith than jettys.
