The Cost of Restoration
Yes, it takes more work to restore than rebuild,
and the work never ends.
The maintenance is constant.
Restoration, it seems, is not for the faint of heart,
even when it is your own soul.
Ah, but there is satisfaction too,
that something worth saving, is saved.
Even, when it is your own soul.
About this poem
I have had new houses and old houses. Old houses take a lot more work and maintenance. But they are worth it.
I have lived as an innocent soul and a broken soul. Innocent was easier. Broken is work. But it is worth it.
