Poem: Light and Shadow

Light and Shadow

You take the same picture way too often.
Light and Shadow, no matter where you are,
sing to you, tell your story

in the contrast, darkness punctuated with light.
Windows. Lamps in the night. Doorways.
Never certain whether light is your way out or in.

Only that you are drawn there,
less afraid of what you can see
than what you cannot.

About this poem.

Scanning photographs this morning, it struck me how many “Light and Shadow” photographs I take. Since I see most of my “artistic” endeavors as emotions leaking out, that has to mean something. It is in the search of what that most of my poetry emerges.
