Poem: Boating on Valentine’s Day

Boating on Valentine’s Day

It is not what you first think of on Valentine’s day,
an old boat in an old city, but there it is,
reminding you of love, a small craft in a big world,
uncertain in the shifting seas, requiring a certain amount
of maintenance, a new coat of paint now and again
to reclaim its luster and priceless in the journey
from here to there, even as you and the boat age,
the journey is priceless.

About this poem

For some reason, no poetry came on Valentine’s. But that’s OK. It showed up a day late.

The picture was taken in Venice
