A Good Couple of Days
A good couple of days
without fighting
to be myself.
Natural sunshine.
Just enough wind.
Bees in the flowers.
Good coffee.
Good conversation.
The discovery of good things
about myself,
even at my age.
A bit of dancing
on the edge of disaster
and somehow never falling.
My balance is rarely that good.
Timetables met with ease.
Lots of good work.
Here and there I managed
to touch people enough
they felt like they mattered.
Which of course made me feel
I matter.
About this poem
a) It has been a good couple of days without the morning depression battles and … 2) I am reading a book about mattering, and… 3) I thought I had a major car problem. It turned out to be a bad tank of gas. Yay!, and…3) I have a really good cup of coffee in front of me. From all that, this poem.
The photograph was taken at the Hancock Shaker Village.
Be well. Travel wisely,
Tom
