Trusting the Seed
Nothing quite fits together,
and so you trust the seed,
and wait for the flower
About this poem
How does poetry as therapy work? This poem is a perfect example.
It began dark. A poem about exhaustion, which was/is where I am this morning as I got up and began writing. It was long and labored. But the mere act of putting the feelings down on paper (figuratively speaking), the act of getting them out, lightened my mood, and by the end of the poem, the last stanza emerged.
I began editing and decided that while the dark was true, I wanted to live in the light, and the last stanza became the poem, and I felt better for it. Ready to take on the day.
Therapy.
