Even in the Dark
Late in the day.
You are tired.
That is the truth of it.
You are tired.
But this is your journey,
an inevitable choice
Between surrender
and life.
=======
You surrender poorly.
This is what your have learned
in a lifetime of battles.
You linger too long.
Fight too long.
Surrendering only after you have lost time and time again,
never sure if this makes you a warrior
or a fool.
========
You are prone to mistakes,
but if you have a redeeming quality,
it is that you never loose sight of the horizon.
Even in the dark,
you walk.
About this poem
I have no idea what brought this on. The picture maybe, which was taken just down the road from me in West Pawlet, VT.
