In The Alleyway
It’s the back side of the building,
away from the showroom windows,
the glass and lights, and signs.
It is the back side of the building
where the work is done.
Where the wares are brought in and hauled out
and no one sees the toil
or the real magic.
About this poem
My mother used to tell me “Never let them see you sweat.”. Not really the best advice, but it stuck with me, how the things that seem so easy for people often are not.
Or a poem about city buildings. I have a weakness for back alleys.
