Poem: Insulation

Insulation

Hardly pretty.
Rarely seen.
Mostly abandoned or ignored.
It is the stuff that keeps us warm,
hidden in the attic
until the cold invades
and it is needed,
the last defense.

About this poem.

A poem about insulation. About faith. About relationships. Poetry is never about one thing. Inspired by the photograph, which I have been saying had a poem in it for years. It finally showed up.

The photograph was taken in the attic of one of the churches I serve – Rupert United Methodist Church in Rupert, VT.

Be well. Travel wisely,

Tom
