Me and Caesar
Caesar Augustus’ home still stands,
remarkably preserved,
always under repair. Never complete.
Always broken and in need,
not unlike yourself,
the broken parts showing
at the worst of times,
cracks in the plaster
as the tourists walk by.
About this poem
The photograph was taken in Rome, yes, at Caesar Augustus’ home.
