Poem: A Lovely Way to Burn

A Lovely Way to Burn

As you leave,
your fingers graze her arm.
Your lips lightly kiss

the back of her neck,
each touch a memory,
of a thousand nights,

a promise
of a thousand more.

About this poem

Inspired by Elvis (yes, Elvis) and his amazing, low key, just him and the stand up bass version of “Fever”. If you haven’t heard it, or haven’t heard it lately go listen and prepare to be amazed.

The picture was taken in my back yard, one night when I had the fire pit aflame.

  1. A nice sultry poem, Tom, thanks. Oh, and p.s. I LOVE Elvis so the inspiration you shared just made it that much better!
