Matthew 7:7
Winter has left it’s mark,
grey tendrils fall down the stones,
the life choked from them
by life’s weather, cold, harsh
and sometimes, it seems,
unrelenting.
From a distance, that is what you see,
dead vines draped on stone,
and yet, look closer,
even now, in the cruelest month,
there is life,
a green more powerful than winter,
more powerful than the frost of hate,
subtle, sure, a reminder that eternal life
is more than a myth,
that it happens
right in front of us, if,
and only if,
we look.
About this poem
My sermon this morning is from Matthew 7:7-8. It’s about seeking (“…. Seek and ye shall find.”
There is a difference between wishing for something, and seeking it. Seeking, is a journey, an effort, active, and more times than not, if we keep at it…we find. Even in our own lives. Even in the dark times.
Maybe especially in the dark times.
