Poem: The Ingredients Wait

36

The Ingredients Wait

It takes a few more bowls.
It takes a bit more time.
A spice here, a bit more flour,
precision and experiment both,
trusting your history,
trusting your mistakes to save you,
knowing that whatever emerges
it will not be repeatable.

And so, when you eat, you savor,
every taste
a once in a lifetime event,
always fleeting,
good or ill,
the ingredients wait
for the next creation

About this poem.

I often, very often, very very often, say that our God is a God of second chances. Thank goodness. I’ve been known to mess up the recipe a few times.
