Dance and the Art of Aging
I tire
of climbing the same stairs,
fighting the same battles,
the same struggles,
year after year.
I grow stronger,
just as new weights are added,
never quite behind,
never quite caught up,
never quite ready
to surrender,
always making the journey,
to the top
or to the bottom, for
that is where the dancing happens.
About this poem
Someone, I think it was Dr. James Dobson, once wrote: “Old age is not for sissies.”.
The picture was taken in Pittsfield, Mass. The poem was written to the picture, not the picture picked to the poem as I generally do.
